4.52pm All ready to go for the round 2 afternoon session
Pool B
(2) Australia versus (10) India
If USA felt unlucky on day one, it was sheer heartbreak for the Indians who were one match up against Ireland and leading 2-0 in the second match, only to lose the tie 2-1. There is unlikely to be anything for them to smile about on day two either, with the Australians one of the most impressive teams in the opening round.
Prediction: Australia 3-0
(7) Ireland versus (15) Japan
The Irish must have had their bags full of four leaf clovers yesterday, but they won’t need their fabled luck today. The team from the Emerald Isle look likely to confirm a spot in the quarterfinals with a comfortable win over the Japanese.
Prediction: Ireland 3-0
Pool C
(3) Egypt versus (6) France
The match of the round, as these two teams vie for top spot in Pool C. Rising star Nour El Tayeb should be too good in the opening match for Coline Aumard, but if Camille Serme can beat Omneya Abdel Kawy in the second match, the tie will come down to the battle between Raneem El Weleily and Isabelle Stoehr. They have played twice on tour and share the spoils 1-all.
Prediction: Egypt 2-1
(11) South Africa versus (14) Mexico
Mexico made an encouraging start to its first ever appearance at the World Team Champs showing plenty of fight in the 3-0 loss to France. They will fancy their chances of an upset against the South Africans, who found the classy Egyptians too hot to handle on day one. The onus is on Milnay Louw to win the opening match to keep South Africa in the tie, with Samantha Teran likely to be too good for Tenille Swartz in battle of the number ones.
Prediction: Mexico 2-1
