
In each newsletter we will give you background of the key people that will be organising the event.
The Organising Committee which is 20 strong, is led by Grant Smith and largely the team that ran and hosted the 2006 World Junior Boys Championships. The (pre-hosting) WSF Technical Director is Andrew Shelley.
Grant Smith. Former Chair of the 2006 World Junior Boys Championships and numerous
other New Zealand Championships over the past decade, Grant brings his business
background and marketing skills to the sport. He is also a former President and Life
Member of SquashGym Palmerston North, and has had a lifetime association with the
sport of squash in New Zealand.
Vaughan Utteridge. Vaughan has over 20 years in sport and event management and
has been involved in numerous national squash events and was heavily involved in the
successful hosting of the 2008 World Masters Squash Championships held in Christchurch,
New Zealand. He will be the first point of call for all team managers.
Joss Urbahn. Joss is the current Director of Refereeing for Squash New Zealand and was
the Championship Referee for the 2006 World Junior Boys Championships. With over 30
years experience within the Refereeing and Administration of Squash, there is no-one
better equipped within New Zealand for this important role.
Manan Mashruwala. Manan is the WSF Technical Director onsite and hails from Mumbai, India. A Squash administratior for the last 25 years, Manan is currently Competition Manager for Squash at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. He has also been Tournament Director and Administrator at numerous World Individual,Teams and Doubles Championships as well as Asian and Indian National Championships.
